Playground @ UXC is a game focused on the study of Human-Centered Design developed by the Singapore Polytechnic User Experience Center. It features a series of quizzes and challenges inspired by real-life case studies from the Polytechnic Center.

It was a very interesting project to participate in: the challenges were developed through a gamification process based on these real-life cases, and the in-game personality quizzes yielded results based on a partnership with Don Norman, the "father" of UX.

The game is currently in the soft launch process.

Responsibilities

📚 Narrative and writing of the second half of the game (challenges development)

👥 Playtest coordination

⚙️ Mechanics creation

⚖️ Balancing and progression

Highlights
  • Deep narrative about the philosophy and studies of the Polytechnic Center

  • Gamified quests that reinterpret real-life cases selected to compose the game's challenges

  • Questionnaire at the end of each challenge with personalized results and equippable rewards

  • Research and strategy to transform real-life cases into the following challenges: Forest (discover the best way to escape wild animals in the forest), Lava Lake (discover a safe way to cross the lava lake), Mountain (decipher an elder's mysteries to find the secret passage that leads to the top of the mountain), and Farm (discover a way to prevent pests from attacking the crops)

Tools
  • Miro's Whiteboard to organize the entire quest and gameflow structure I developed for the game's challenges.

  • Google Sheets as a spreadsheet for dialogues and quests, with a responsive structure that allows you to track in real time what has already been implemented in the game.

  • ClickUp to create tasks for the implementation team.
